What a great week! I’m super excited to share with you what I did and how you can get into fat burning gear, too! I’m a little surprised about how I lost 3.9 pounds this week – I talk a little about why that is in last week’s Watch Me Burn – but I have a pretty good idea on what’s happening.
Ok, here’s the chart!
It’s hard not to get overly excited about this. Generally, I have to do fasted cardio in the morning to hit 4 pounds a week (I know, I know it’s only 3.9… give me a break! :P).
When I tell people what to expect around week 3, I usually tell people between 2-3 pounds. I still think on average that’s what you should expect during your low carb journey, but I have a few things to point out that probably helped.
What I Did This Week
Week 2 was the first week of MCT oil for me. I used it last week to stop my keto flu (read more about the keto flu here) and this week I stepped it up a notch. For my morning coffee, I doubled MCT oil to two tablespoons.
Ever since doing this, I noticed I’m MUCH sharper btw.
I need to research this effect a bit more.
I suspect this is the primary reason my metabolism seems ramped up this week. It’s actually a bit counter intuitive to me. I always thought by increasing dietary MCT, my body has less a need to break down fat stores.
That doesn’t seem to be the case here.
I’m guessing MCT stimulates the organs enough to increase fat mobilization. This is pure speculation, though. I’m doing to read articles on this and report back to you guys. We’ll see if it continues this upcoming week.
Other Changes This Week
I’m in the middle of selling my current home, which means I wasn’t able to cook much this week. Early in the week my dinners were Carbquik Biscuits and Sausage Gravy.
I had several house showings this week so I couldn’t make too big a mess in the kitchen. So I had Wendy’s Double Baconators about 4 times this week! That’s right! Double baconators. The only thing is, I ordered it without the bun. Here’s what it looks like:
Remember from the first Watch Me Burn post where I said low carb doesn’t mean low taste? This is what I’m talking about 🙂
Another thing I discovered was Starbucks! If you’re looking for a low carb option here, go with a venti Americano with heavy cream. It’ll be half espresso and water and half heavy cream. Lots of fat to send your body the right signals.
MCT oil is the undisputed, undefeated, heavyweight champion of the low carb world. I’m not 100% certain, but I think MCT is the reason for the uptick in weight loss this week. More research is needed, but it represents this week’s most significant change.
I mention it on almost every page of this site and it’s with good reason. I don’t think there’s another item more powerful than it! You can consume it with just about anything and has no taste or flavor. It can’t be stored as body fat. It’s the best fuel for your organs while on a ketogenic diet.
Thanks a lot for stopping by! My recipes to help you stay on path are almost finished. I should be releasing them sometime in the next two weeks. I do have a top things you need post coming out this week so stay tune.
